The aim of the project is to answer questions How has the problem of Finland-Swedish identity been defined in general and how is it treated in curricula for different schools What kind of meaning and value are teachers giving culture and identity matters in their teaching What kind of view do teachers have about the Finland-Swedish picture in existing textbooks and supplementary teaching material A sample of teachers [n.45] in the comprehensive and upper secondary school in the Swedish-speaking areas in Finland have been interviewed.One article will be published during 1998.The research assistant Åsa Stolpe will publish her licentiate thesis about the topic in 1999.In the next phase of the project primary school teachers will be interviewed and a sample of textbooks analysed.
